 What Would You Do?
This week:

  • Dear TLW–
I have been asked by my organization to move into a formal training role. I’ve been a “subject matter expert” in our department. Fellow employees as well as new employees were expected to come to me for assistance, answers, and guidance. My manager thought I did such a good job with helping our team members grow in their knowledge and skill, that she requested a new role be given me. I decided that I needed to train myself about the “training and development” profession!! There is a lot to learn! Please explain the ADDIE model to me!

Next week:

  • Dear TLW–
I have been enjoying your weekly podcasts!  Though I’ve been in the training and development field for awhile, I have found thru your discussions, news articles, tips and more, that I’m not staying as current as I should!  And that this “old dog” may need to learn or refresh some of his old tricks! With that said, the article that Robin referenced last week titled “Leadership Training Gains Urgency Amid Stronger Economy” from The Wall Street Journal hit home.  Our managerial “pipeline” is thin, and our senior management recognizes this…especially as the economy improves.  We are worried that we may not have the bench strength needed.  What are you seeing relative to “emerging leader” programs within organizations?  Where should an organization start?
